Bluewater Sweet Adelines

Director : Sue Murdoch

Being the Director of this exciting group of women is one of my most rewarding musical and personal experiences. Let me tell you how it all began.

My sister-in-laws dragged me to the first meeting of our chorus back in June of 1978. I had a lot of singing experience as a teenager with a choral group called 'The Teen Tones' and had performed quite a bit of solo work over the years. I first start out as a tenor but was moved to Lead because I was kind of loud for an angelic tenor. I found my place as a lead and was lead section leader and Assistant Director for many years. I also was President when we received our Charter 25 years ago. That was a great thrill for me. I have served in just about every role except Treasurer and Choreographer.

In 1997 I was asked to direct this fine group, a daunting tast indeed. We all decided that we would learn together in my tenure as Director. My faithful music committee are absolutely my colleagues and friends, who help me to do my job every week. I have attended many educational experiences with the support and love of my board and my chorus. After 8 years I feel like i"m still learning, and every week after rehearsal I am always amazed by what a good time I had in front of this group.

Because I need to sing too, I also am the lead in a quartet called 'Harmony Workshop.' We've been singing together for 20 years. In my non Sweet Adeline life (yes there is one) I am a retired Registered Nurse and spouse of a very busy Member of Provincial Parliament. Together we live and farm on a beautiful property overlooking the Niagara Escarpment. We have two daughters who are beautiful, independent young women, and a very active Yellow Lab. I love to read, garden, stay fit any way I can and spend time with family and friends.

Bluewater Chorus reflects the kind of qualities I strive to reflect in my every day life- people who share the love of singing and who care and support each other through good times and bad. What more could you ask for?
